Signs Your Brakes may be in Need of Repairs:

Often, we do not think about car problems until we are broken down on the side of the road. If there is one part of your car that should always be in working condition, it is your brakes. Without functioning brakes, you will not be able to stop safely. If you have noticed any of the following signs, you must call a professional for a brake repair as soon as possible.

  • Unusual Noises: If your vehicle makes a strange noise, it is time to schedule an appointment with a mechanic. When you hear squealing when applying pressure on the brakes, your brake pads are starting to wear out. If you hear a grinding noise, on the other hand, there could be multiple issues causing this sound, so you want to take your vehicle to a professional to determine the problem.
  • Brake Light: The easiest way to tell that it is time for a brake repair is when your brake light turns on. Your brake light will be red, orange, or yellow and will pop up on your dashboard. Don't ignore this warning sign even if you don't think anything is wrong with your brakes.
  • Vibration: Does your steering wheel vibrate when you brake? Vibrating when braking indicates that your rotors are either warping or uneven. Visiting a mechanic as soon as possible for a brake repair is essential before your rotors are completely worn out.
  • Leaking Fluid: If you have noticed a small puddle of fluid under your vehicle that doesn't look slimy or oily, it is probably brake fluid. Your leak could be coming from your master cylinder or somewhere else within the brake system and can cause severe damage to your brake pads if not taken care of timely.
  • Squishy Pedal: If you are trying to stop and your brake pedal feels spongey or "softer" than usual, it is probably time for a brake repair. There are various reasons for a squishy pedal, so it is best to let a professional find the source of the problem.
